Automoto365.com can exclusively reveal to its loyal readers this morning that the second seat at Force India has finally been secured by none other than former Renault racer, Giancarlo Fisichella.
In a move that will see the Italian veteran’s Formula One career continue in much the same fashion as David Coulthard’s when he left McLaren and joined Red Bull Racing, Fisichella considers the deal as a new phase in his career and is thrilled to have been chosen over the other six candidates eyeing the drive.
This means that the team will feature the fast and experienced line up of Adrian Sutil and Fisichella for their full season as the first Indian team on the Formula One grid.
Meanwhile Fisichella, who made his F1 debut with Minardi in 96, is making his third appearance at the team that was formally known as Jordan for whom he raced in 1997, 2002 and 2003. The years in between were spent at Renault, nee Benetton, 98 – 01 and 04 – 07.
This also means that Ralf Schumacher will not be on the grid next season with all teams confirming their line ups, including Renault and McLaren, the only possible seat remaining being one at Super Aguri.
