The Swiss based Sauber Petronas team continued its three-day test at the Circuit de Catalunya on Saturday where regular driver Felipe Massa covered a whopping total of 126 laps in chassis C24-01 with a best overall time of 1:18.285, third quickest for the day behind the two Bridgestone shod Ferrari’s.
Once again the Brazilian driver was forced to struggle with the low temperatures, but overall the weather and track conditions were better compared to Friday’s chilly outing. This was Felipe’s final day here and teammate Jacques Villeneuve will take over to complete the test on Sunday.
“We mainly focused on long-runs and worked on the set-up to improve the car's balance, and made quite good progress, “said Mike Krack, Race Engineer. "We also did some aerodynamic parts assessments at the end of the test day. Running 126 trouble-free laps, which equals almost two race distances, shows the high reliability of the C24 and leaves us feeling positive as this will be an even more important issue in the forthcoming season. Tomorrow we will continue with Jacques to work on the set-up and will also do some Michelin tyre tests."
