Mark Webber and Antonio Pizzonia continued the BMW WilliamsF1 Team's test program at the 'Circuit de Catalunya', Barcelona on Thursday where on the second day of testing at the 4.627 kilometer circuit, conditions were once again ideal.
Mark continued to familiarize himself with the WilliamsF1 BMW FW26, the Aussie racer focusing on set-up work in the FW26 with the afternoon part of the session seeing him work on tyre compound evaluations with the team’s tyre partner, Michelin. He completed a total of 85 laps to post a best overall time of 1:15.236.
Following Wednesday’s technical problems, Thursday saw a trouble-free for official test and reserve driver, Antonio Pizzonia, the Brazilian working diligently on set-ups in addition to evaluating gearbox settings. He completed 44 laps, setting a best time of 1:15.753 minutes.
"Following his first official day in the car, Mark continued familiarizing himself with the FW26,” said Tim Newton. “Towards the end of the session, he focused on set-up options, as well as starting some brake and tyre testing which he will continue tomorrow. Having rectified the teething problems encountered yesterday, Antonio made good progress today testing new components on the interim car. Both drivers will continue the team’s testing schedule tomorrow.“
