It was announced today that the Australian Grand Prix organization was planning to sell cheap tickets to the 2007 season opening Formula One Grand Prix at the Albert Park circuit, but only to women! The idea behind the ‘ingenious’ idea was to get single women not normally planning to attend the race to go with the hope of enjoying the party atmosphere instead.
In a section at turn four of the Aussie track known as ‘Traction’, that was introduced for the 2006 event and supplies fans with food and beverages, women will be sold up to 50% of the available tickets in order to mingle with single men. Tickets will be colour coded in, yes you guessed it, pink for girls and blue for boys and will go on sale in advance. The reason for the coding is so that men do not try and gain admittance with the cheaper, female only, tickets.
"It's a party,” said GP Corporation CEO Tim Bamford. “It's a way to get people otherwise not interested to go to the event."
The tickets will only apply to the Traction section and could be available for the next three Australian GP’s depending on the success of the trial. |
