‘Mystic’ Michael returns home
The day after his disappointing first Chinese Grand Prix, ‘the Mystic’, as some Chinese journalists had come to dub Michael Schumacher during the weekend, returned home to Switzerland. On Sunday evening Michael dined in the company of friends and then went out to celebrate a little. Corinne and the children will be by his side this week.

‘A week is enough and then it is really time to be with my family again’, he declared with satisfaction.
On Sunday night Michael spoke at length to his family on the telephone and the initial delusion following the Chinese GP was forgotten; in reality it was put to the back of his mind immediately after the race.

‘It is important to be able to see the positive side of everything’, stated the seven time world champion. ‘And in my situation with the championship already sewn up it makes little sense to dwell on the race. The were a lot of positives from Sunday: Ferrari won the first Chinese GP and this will pass into history. Rubens won a fantastic race (and I celebrated on Sunday with him) and our fans were able to share our joy. Naturally, I would have liked to have left my mark on this race by winning it, but it was not to be. Maybe laughing about it would be too much but I repeat that all the bad luck happened at once…I should have exhausted these unlucky moments all at once, at least I hope I have! I hope to have less excitement and more success over the last two races of the season!’

The only thing that bothered Michael was not being able to score championship points for the team.

‘I feel a bit sorry about this. The engineers and mechanics work like madmen during a race weekend and I wasn’t able to bring home very much. You always hope to get something for them from the track as a reward for all their effort. I can only say that I will give my all over the next two races’.

Michael will also play his part this week in testing, again, on Thursday. This will be the last test session this year as the season will soon draw to a close.
