There have been rumours doing the rounds since the weekend that the Abu Dhabi race scheduled for later this year, won’t go ahead and that the Montreal event, cancelled for this year, could make a return in it’s place. Not the same time slot as it would be too cold in Canada in October, but slotted into another gap in the current agenda.
In response to these rumours, officials at Abu Dhabi have reacted and assured everyone that there are no delays in finalizing construction of their track and the 2009 inaugural event will go ahead as planned with tickets going on sale yesterday as planned…
"As tickets for the inaugural Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix went on sale in Abu Dhabi this morning, Abu Dhabi Motorsports Management confirms that progress on the construction of Yas Marina Circuit, the host venue for the final race of the 2009 F1 season finale, is on track and there are no concerns regarding delivery deadlines," they said in a statement yesterday. |
