All is not lost says Alonso
Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso is not conceding defeat in his quest for a third world drivers crown this season despite the fact that he failed to secure any points in yesterdays wet and incident filled Belgian Grand Prix here at the Spa Francorchamps circuit.

Alonso’s hope were severely compromised at the start of the event when he was speared by the Williams of Rubens Barrichello, however thankfully he survived the impact and despite being forced into the pits for an unscheduled stop, putting on wets only to come back in and changed them back to slicks, he was back up onto a points scoring position before spinning his Ferrari out of contention with only a handful of laps remaining.

Therefore, he heads into the final round of the European season at Monza, his teams home race, in two weeks time a further twenty five points behind Lewis Hamilton and 18 behind Mark Webber, but he insists all is not lost....

"For us it is still a possibility,” he was quoted as saying on Autosport after the race. “There are the same five drivers that can win and our chance is still 50/50, just as it was before the race. As we said before this GP, there were seven races and now there are six where everything matters and who does the best job will be champion. In the first of the seven we did not do well enough and some others did better. Jenson, Vettel and me, after this first race of seven, were not good enough. So for the remaining six we need to make up the ground that we lost here."
