Alonso will do it again says Webber

WilliamsF1 driver Mark Webber is convinced that 2005 World champion Fernando Alonso will take his second successive crown in the upcoming 2006 Formula One championship, the Australian driver impressed by the Alonso’s Renault squad during recent winter testing in Spain. Webber, who will use Cosworth power in his second season at Williams, believes that Renault have done a great job with the new R26, the car that will carry Alonso to further glory.

"I think Fernando is big. I think Alonso will come out of the box," Webber said in the Australian press. "I always thought last year would be one of the easiest championships he would have. Looking at what I saw this past week, he might have an even easier one. He's not lacking in confidence at the moment. He drove superbly last year."

However, that said, Mark admitted that while the other drivers on the grid may have a very hard time in beating the Spaniard this season, there may be one other thing that stands in the way of 2006 glory….

"The only thing that puts a little question mark on him is his relationship with Renault," he said.

Alonso has already announced his intention to leave Flavio Briatore and Renault at the end of the year and move to Ron Dennis and McLaren for 2007, a deal that was struck without any communication with Renault. Many see this as a betrayal of sorts and it may just be his undoing.
