Another good day for McLaren

Thursday marked the second and final day of the Team McLaren Mercedes testing programme in Jerez, Spain where test drivers Alex and Pedro continued work, behind the wheel of two MP4-20s.

Pedro was progressing with the Michelin tyre program for the Chinese Grand Prix that he began on Wednesday, completing short runs in the
morning. In the afternoon he took over damper work from Alex and was focusing on aerodynamic developments. Pedro was the fastest man on the circuit with a best time of 1m15.737.

"With the Chinese Grand Prix just a few weeks away, this test has been important in making sure we make the correct Michelin tyre choice for the race,” he said. “I will be the team's Friday driver out in Shanghai, and am looking forward to seeing how the work we have done here at Jerez will help us out on the racetrack."

Meanwhile, Alex's program incorporated Michelin tyre work, and rear suspension development and he too completed his planned program without any problems, setting the second fastest time of the day of 1m16.417s.

"These two days have gone well and we have made some positive steps forward, completing a distance of 840km with no problems,” he said. “I can't believe this is the final test before the end of the season, the year seems to have gone by so quickly."
