According to reports in Motorsport News, the British American Racing team underwent a secret three day test last week putting nine young drivers, including Nico Rosberg and Nelson Piquet junior, through their paces as part of an evaluation process.
Adam Carroll, James Rossiter, Alexandre Premat, Heikki Kovalainen, Alan van der Merwe, Jose Maria Lopez and Danilo Dirani also took part in the test that included verbal evaluation as well as physical and mental evaluation.
“They tested us on a lot of things,” Macau GP winner Premat said. “Maybe it could lead to a test drive with the team but no-one knows yet.”
There was no action in a Formula One contender however, as the testing ban was in place, however the young drivers were behind the wheel of road cars on the Bruntingthorpe test track so their skills could be witnessed.
“I think that we have a lot of talented British drivers, but getting to the next stage is the difficult bit,” Dave Richards told the magazine. “Jock Clear has been heading this up and it has been done in a very professional manner. The aim is to find the right drivers for the future and it will bear fruit very shortly.”
