The second day of testing at the Barcelona circuit today saw several more teams join the action, including red Bull, Toyota, Toro Rosso and Williams with Christian Klien setting the best time of the day overall ahead of McLaren’s Alexander Wurz. With just under two seconds on his fellow Austrian, Klien ensured that Red Bull started their 2006 season in style when after 43 laps he had almost two tenths on the McLaren.
Alex meanwhile, had a more productive day today managing 69 laps of the Spanish track. Toyota’s third man Ricardo Zonta was third in the new Bridgestone shod TF106, less than a tenth behind Wurz while the second McLaren of Pedro de la Rosa was fourth followed by the second Toyota of Jarno Trulli.
Tonio Liuzzi was an impressive sixth for the Toro Rosso team, formerly known as Minardi with Nico Rosberg finishing seventh in his first day of work for the Cosworth powered Williams team. New Red Bull tester Robert Doornbos was eighth on his debut for the team with Nick Heidfeld ninth for Sauber and the second Williams of Andy Priaulx tenth and last.
