BMW WilliamsF1 Team to launch today
After intense winter testing with a modified FW26, the BMW WilliamsF1 Team will be unveiling their new 2005 contender, the FW27 at the Valencia circuit later this morning. At 11:30 am the new car will be revealed in all its glory before conducting initial shakedown laps in front of the eagerly awaiting media and distinguished guests. The Grove based squad revealed their new sponsor portfolio and livery in Bahrain earlier this month, so apart from the car itself, the main news everyone is waiting on is team boss Sir Frank Williams’ final decision on just who will partner Mark Williams this year, Antonio Pizzonia or Nick Heidfeld, the one missing out on the seat set to handed the role of test driver. Following today’s launch, the team will undergo an intensive testing program in the build-up to the season-opening Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on the 6th of March. We at GP2005.com will keep you informed as today’s event unfolds, bringing you all the news, views and pictures as soon as they come hand. Furthermore, the BMW WilliamsF1 Team will announce its 2005 driver line-up at the car launch. So far, it has not yet been decided who will partner Mark Webber in 2005, but with both Nick Heidfeld and Antonio Pizzonia being contracted to the team, one of the two will get the second race drive while the other will be officially announced as test and reserve driver.
