Former RenaultF1 team boss Flavio Briatore, will head to court on November 24th where he will attempt to get his lifetime ban in Motorsport overturned. The FIA banned the Italian from ever attending another round of the Formula One championship in a professional manner and has even told drivers under his management that their superlicense won’t be renewed if they continue to use his services.
This has all come about after Briatore was found guilty of race fixing in last year’s Singapore grand Prix and he is hoping that by taking legal action against the sports governing body he will be able to salvage his career, to his some extent anyway. The Italian believes that his punishment was a legal absurdity and that the High Court will see this as well and overturn the ruling.
"In this case the FIA has been used as a tool to exact vengeance on behalf of one man,” he said. “This decision is a legal absurdity and I have every confidence that the French courts will resolve the matter justly and impartially." |
