Bridgestone rubber suits new BMW

After some brilliant tyre wars over the past few seasons with Michelin and Bridgestone going head-to-head, the upcoming 2007 championship season will be contested on control tyres. Following the tests held in Bahrain, BMW SauberF1 driver Nick Heidfeld is of the opinion that his new contender, the F1.07 and the new Bridgestone tyres make a successful combination.

The recent testing sessions in Bahrain have proven to be extremely significant for the young German as his car showed itself to be not only quick and reliable, but also very well adapted to the new rubber….

"The tyres clearly provide less grip, therefore everyone will be slower and sliding a lot more with them. When it comes to the car, however, they seem to suit the F1.07 rather well. The car was clearly developed in the right direction," he explained on the team’s official website.

However, that said, he is well aware of the fact that work with the tyres is not yet complete, with his input a vital factor…..

"There still is quite a lot we have to learn regarding the tyres. I've got a gentle and precise style of driving," he explains. "Therefore, I hope to experience fewer problems with the new tyres than other drivers."
