British GP: Qualifying – Red Bull front row!
Sebastian Vettel took pole position for tomorrow afternoon’s British grand Prix with teammate Mark Webber joining him on the front row of the grid, continuing Red Bull’s domination of their home event here this weekend. Alonso was third followed by Hamilton, Rosberg, Kubica, Massa, Barrichello, de la Rosa and Michael Schumacher.

Fine dry weather was the call of the afternoon here at the Silverstone circuit this afternoon and although there is no immediate action when the lights go out, it doesn’t take too long for the cars to appear on the English track.

Timo Glock is the first man to set a time with the times quickly tumbling, Petrov, Button, Alonso. Rosberg, but it doesn’t take too long before the Fred Bull of Mark Webber, then Sebastian Vettel, take to the top of the timesheets.

Alonso is third, Sutil fourth, Hamilton fifth and Massa sixth as the first session winds down and with a minute on the clock it looks as if the Toro Rosso of Jaime Alguersuari will join the three new teams in the elimination box.

The chequered flag falls and yes, Alguersuari joins Kovalainen, Glock, Trulli, di Grassi, Chandhok and Yamamoto on the sidelines.

The second fifteen minute session gets underway with the Ferrari of Fernando Alonso the first one on track, the Spaniard quickly followed by teammate Felipe Massa, who quickly takes P1. Jenson Button and Nico Hulkenberg soon surpass the Ferrari with Hamilton slotting into P2 but the Ferrari’s fight back going one two again, this time with Alonso ahead of Massa.

Mark Webber is on a flyer and takes top sport from Alonso by over half a second! Vettel soon slots into P2 just over a tenth off his teammates’ leading pace. Petrov hits problems and the Renault tours back to the garage.

The final runs get underway and it looks as if there is a minor altercation between Hulkenberg and Liuzzi as they fight for the same piece of tarmac. Both men are then eliminated as they fail to move up into the top ten on their final laps, but the shock is that Jenson Button is also out! Adrian Sutil, Kamui Kobayashi, Vitaly Petrov and Sebastien Buemi join them on the sidelines.

Pitlane goes green for the final ten minute shoot out for pole position and the two Ferrari’s are first out followed by Hamilton and Barrichello. The two Ferrari’s go one two, Alonso ahead of Massa but Hamilton and Barrichello both sneak in between them.

Webber is on a fast lap and instantly goes to the top of the timesheets, the first driver to go under the 1:30’s but teammate Vettel is on a faster lap and snatches P1 for himself giving Red Bull the one two they have been promising all weekend.

Four minutes remain and Schumacher, de la Rosa and Kubica yet to set a time. Schumacher and Kubica finally appear, then de la Rosa, all set to post just one timed run. Massa moves into P6, Webber challenges Vettel but the Aussie driver stays second. Vettel on pole at Silverstone!
