Over the course of the Australian grand Prix weekend there was talk about Victoria’s rival state, Sydney, making plans to try and snatch the annual Grand prix away from Melbourne and host it up there as well with plans to give FOM boss Bernie Ecclestone exactly what he wants with provisions for a night race.
Speaking after winning the even at Albert Park for a second successive year, the only other driver besides Michael Schumacher (2000, 01, 02) to take more than one win in a row at the Albert Park Circuit, Jenson Button admitted that he can’t see any reason to move the race from its current location....
"It's always interesting to hear about new tracks – but really, I can't see any reason for us changing,” he said on his official website. “Albert Park is one of the places that’s always on your list of favourite races – great venue, good track, nice people, so why would we change? I think the race is doing just great where it is."
