The argument between BAR and Williams concerning just who Jenson Button will be driving for in the 2005 Formula One season is still in full swing with our spies in Spa revealing that representatives from BAT speaking with the British driver at Spa-Francorchamps last weekend, offering him a much better deal than the one he has now. More money, the same point bonus and payments when they are due.
Ever since the news was released that the British driver had signed for Williams, BAR have been stating that they had picked up his option beforehand, meaning that he was obligated to remain with them. However, it appears as if a loophole in the wording of the contract in regard to Honda was used as an out, and BAR refuse to give up without a fight.
They were also warning him that a court case might take some time, leaving the driver forced to sit between the two teams for an uncertain period of time. Williams team boss Frank Williams is afraid that Button might not be strong enough mentally to stand up to the enormous pressure if the matter takes longer than expected. Therefore, in the end, Button might decide to stay where he is in order to avoid any further aggravation.
