Lucky Strike B.A.R Honda's three-day test at the Jerez circuit in southern Spain began on Tuesday morning in typically hot and sunny conditions. Fresh from yet another impressive Friday performance in China, Anthony Davidson returned to Europe in time for this test and the team’s new test driver, Enrique Bernoldi, joined the Brit for day one.
Anthony had a slightly frustrating morning as a gearbox problem cost him some valuable running time. Nevertheless he completed a total of 38 laps before lunch, setting the third fastest time.
Enrique spent the morning acclimatising himself with both the car and the circuit as he began his first proper test for the team following a short afternoon run at Silverstone two weeks ago. In his first drive at the Jerez circuit since 1999, he completed 45 laps in the morning session setting the eighth fastest time.
Enrique spent the afternoon completing two long runs on a tyre evaluation program, completing a total of 92 laps for the day and posting the eighth fastest time, a 1:18.943.
Anthony's afternoon was also spent running through a tyre program as he evaluated option tyres for the forthcoming Grands Prix. He completed a total of 87 laps, setting the third fastest time of the day, a 1:17.789.
