The Super Aguri Formula One team joined their rivals in the Kingdom of Bahrain last week, to participate in the penultimate pre-season test of 2007 at the Bahrain International Circuit. The test allowed new rookie driver Anthony Davidson to undertake a very important session for the team during the one-car, three-day program.
After conducting set-up, controls and during the test, the young Brit took advantage of his last chance to test the car prior to the season opening Australian Grand Prix in two and a half weeks time by focusing on build-up scenarios with Melbourne in mind. A qualifying run, grid simulation and race run were all successfully orchestrated and he is content with the way things developed.
“It has been a positive test for the team and we have continued to learn about the new Bridgestone Potenza tyres,” he said. “It was interesting having two different compounds here and we found good car balance with both types. I feel that we have been competitive with our lap times, especially on the longer runs, and with the reliability of the car. As the track grip improved it seemed to suit the car more and more, and this gives me a good indication of rubber levels that we will see over the race weekend.” |
