After spending the last two seasons as a test driver for the Mercedes powered McLaren Formula One team, Pedro de la Rosa is planning on spending one more year with the Woking based squad before hopefully rejoining active competition. However, if he fails to secure a Formula One seat, the Spaniard has revealed that he will look into other championships for a competitive ride.
"If I arrive at the end of 2006 and still do not have a race cockpit, then I will try my luck in a different racing series," he told Marca.
Pedro is now almost thirty five years old, not a good place to be when most teams are looking for youth rather than experience, however his strong performances earlier in the season when he subbed for injured McLaren regular driver, Juan Pablo Montoya, could possibly have secured him a position with the rumoured McLaren B team that is thought to be starting up in 2007. |
