The BMW SauberF1 team joined the first official testing session of the 2007 Formula One season at the Catalunya Circuit on Tuesday where due to a cold start at the Spanish track, 2007 driver Robert Kubica stayed in the garage at the beginning of the day, the team hoping for warmer temperatures due to the fact that the {Polish driver’s main focus was on the new Bridgestone tyres as well as testing new parts for the 2007 car that will be unveiled in January.
This was the first outing where the team had tested the Japanese rubber, so an important part of this week’s scheduled session is to work on adjusting the set-up of the car to accommodate the new compounds. Meanwhile, teammate Nick Heidfeld spent his day working on a new transmission and was the first of the two drivers to go out on the track in the morning session.
Today Nick and Robert will continue the testing duties with Nick continuing with the transmission testing while also working on brakes. The work of adjusting to the Bridgestone tyres will also continue on both cars, with Robert also scheduled to continue work on mechanical components for the 2007 car. |
