Dominguez steps in for injured Dalziel

Champ Car race winner, Mario Dominguez, 32, of Mexico City, Mexico will drive the #28 PCM/DP01 for injured rookie, Ryan Dalziel beginning this weekend at the San Jose Grand Prix. In his sixth year of competition, Mario Dominguez has experience with the series’ top-teams and has achieved two victories, one pole position and 10 podiums in 82 race starts.  He’s finished in the top-six in the series championship twice.  Last weekend at the Grand Prix of Edmonton, Dominguez filled-in for PKV Racing’s rookie driver, Tristan Gommendy.

“I am very excited to drive for PCM and I thankful for their confidence and trust in me.  I am sorry for Ryan Dalziel, he has done a great job this season and I hope he heals soon.  This is not an ideal way to get  in a car, but I welcome the opportunity to help the team get out front. I think my experience and expertise can help this rookie team progress,” said Dominguez

2007 will be the Mexican’s third start at San Jose, he started 10th and finished fifth in 2006…

“San Jose is a very important race to me.  I have a lot of fans in the area who have been very supportive of my career and I can’t wait to see them.  I want to thank Tyler Tadevic and Tom Figge for this opportunity and I can’t wait to get started!”

“Mario brings a wealth of experience to our rookie program and we are pleased that he is able to step-in for us at the last minute to drive the #28 car.  Mario is a proven race winner and a very knowledgeable driver, we think he will be a great fit within our organization,” commented team director Tyler Tadevic. “We’ve been making a lot of progress as a team with Ryan (Dalziel) and are sorry we are not going to be able to continue that momentum this weekend but we wish him a speedy recovery.”

Ryan Dalziel broke his collarbone after falling off his bicycle while training Tuesday morning.  Dr. Terry Trammel will determine Ryan’s eligibility for round ten at Road America in the coming days.
