Like several races this season, there has been almost as much action off the track as there has been on, and Turkey was no exception with some of the drivers becoming involved in a heated discussion in the drivers briefing. During the final laps of the Hungarian Grand Prix, there was an incident that saw Michael Schumacher cut the chicane rather than be overtaken by Pedro de la Rosa’s McLaren, and the Spaniard was far from happy about.
So, while the drivers involved and a few others, battled it out, Williams rookie Nico Rosberg watched on with amusement…
“The other big news for us drivers this weekend was the criticism that Michael Schumacher came under during the driver briefing. Back in Hungary, when Pedro de la Rosa was trying to pass him, Michael cut the chicane, went straight on, stayed in front then didn't yield,” Nico said in his column for Castrol. “For me, it didn't seem 100 percent right. De la Rosa complained in the briefing this weekend and some other people joined in with him which made Michael a bit angry. It was quite a funny exchange when you were there.”
It seems as if the only outcome from this spat was a clarification of when it is acceptable to jump the chicane when being pursued by a rival and when it isn’t/ However, we were not informed as to just what that was…. |
