Ecclestone backs Massa for glory

Formula One Supremo Bernie Ecclestone has predicted that Brazilian driver Felipe Massa will take up where his 2006 Ferrari teammate, Michael Schumacher left off and go on to secure the Scuderia’s next world crown this season.

Speaking to the German press, the 76 year old picked Felipe over his new teammate and long time ‘champion in the making’, Kimi Raikkonen, mainly because of the help Michael has already given him over his time with Ferrari, and the ongoing support he will receive from the seven time world champion in 07.

“Michael Schumacher was already a 'team manager' of sorts in the past and he will be a big help to Massa this year," Ecclestone told Bild.

Felipe won two races in 2006, including his home grand prix in the season closing GP last October and has been the quickest driver overall in recent pre season testing.
