F1 is definitely the next step says Rosberg

After securing the first ever GP2 championship crown, Nico Rosberg has set his sights on a 2006 Formula One ride, revealing that he is currently in discussions with WilliamsF1 and BMW in regard to a future seat.

Current Williams driver Mark Webber has already voiced his views in regard to the possibility of having Nico as a teammate in 2006, the Aussie driver confident that the German youngster will get the nod from team boss Sir Frank Williams over Antonio Pizzonia, who is currently standing in for Nick Heidfeld.

Meanwhile, the possibility that Nico will make it an all German team at BMW next year and actually partner Heidfeld is another possibility, however, if a race seat isn’t on the agenda just yet, a test contract most surely is….

"Definitely that [F1] is the next step, and I can't believe I'm actually talking about it like that," he told Autosport. "That seems the next step, and for sure I'll have a good chance for next year – at least a test driver, and maybe even a race drive.  I'm still talking to Williams and BMW, but I think probably at Williams as a test driver for sure, and maybe even a race drive is a small possibility – it hasn't been spoken about really, but who knows."
