F1 is not for sale says Ecclestone

After several reports of late in regard to take over bids on Formula One, one from Robin Saunders and another claim from Satellite TV company BSkyB that they had been approached by US and British private equity firms about a take over, Bernie Ecclestone has released a statement confirming that his business is not for sale.

Formula One Management, or FOM as it is known, confirmed that an offer has indeed been made for SLEC, the company that controls the commercial rights in Formula One, but the offer went unheeded as there is no interest to sell as the following statement claims…

"It has been reported that approaches have been made in relationship to the sale by the controlling shareholders of SLEC. Although the approach has been made, the answer has been that the company shares are not for sale. The shareholders are long term investors and have the interest and stability of Formula One foremost in their mind.”
