Ferrari and Maserati on track for the first day of the Finals at Monza
Thursday saw the official opening of the 2004 Ferrari Maserati World Finals at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza (Milan.) and getting the action underway on the opening day were the first practice sessions. The historic cars in the Shell Ferrari Maserati Historic Challenge today tackled their first free practice sessions, while cars competing in the Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy were also in action, in timed qualifying. The best time in the Italian category of the one-make series was set by Nicola Cadei (Rossocorsa.) In the Europe/USA category, provisional pole went to Frenchman Ange Barde (Ferrari West Europe Organisation.) The event brings to a close the Group’s racing activities for this season, featuring the Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy, the Shell Ferrari Maserati Historic Challenge and the Trofeo Vodafone Maserati. The highlight of the event comes on the final day, Sunday 31st October, with a demonstration from Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro. This will see four F2004 running on track at the same time, driven by Michael Schumacher, Rubens Barrichello, Luca Badoer and Andrea Bertolini. On Friday the real action begins with curtain raising races for the Ferrari 360 Modena Challenge and a parade of historic cars, run by the Maranello F1 Clienti department which will feature one 1953 500 F2, two ex-Clay Regazzoni 1975 F1 312 T and the ex-Schumacher F2001.
