The FIA released the calendar for the upcoming 2007 season, and there were a few shocks in store, starting with the late date of the season opening Australian Grand Prix through to the fact that the planned agenda had been shortened to just 17 events, two shy of 2005 and one less than the originally quoted 18 round schedule.
Noticeably missing from the list is the San Marino Grand Prix, and the European Grand Prix, which was expected with the two German events said to be on an alternating schedule from now on. However, San Marino has not given up on adding their name to the list, more than likely in the month long gap between the Bahrain GP on April 15 and the Spanish GP on May 13.
There is also a three week between Australia and Malaysia, a very odd move by the FIA as normally the fly away events are conducted close together to help teams cut down on travelling expenses.
