Fisichella not worried about Alonso
Returning Renault driver Giancarlo Fisichella has dismissed any warnings coming from his predecessor at the French based squad in regard to his new teammate Fernando Alonso, the Italian racer confident that he can beat the Spanish sensation on the track in 2005. While he acknowledges that Fernando will be a very strong rival, probably the strongest he has had to deal with so far, he is confident in the knowledge that regardless of what team he has been with in the past he has always managed to beat his teammates and he isn’t expecting this time to be any different. "I go back to Renault with pride, hope and confidence, I realize I have a very strong teammate, perhaps the toughest I've ever had, and who has the advantage of knowing this car well," he told the Gazzetta dello Sport. "But I've always beaten my teammates." Jarno Trulli stated to the Spanish press that he had already warned Fisichella of the internal politics…. “I have already told Fisichella my version of the facts,” Jarno told AS. “Monza was a good example, it is one of my favourite tracks and one that I know very well, and yet Alonso was half a second faster during the race. Many similar facts happened that I can’t understand, even now.” But, Fisichella doesn’t think that will be an issue… “I don't think that the fact that his manager is also the team boss will have any effect,” he said. “I know that our cars will be identical, as Briatore wanted me back at all costs.”
