There has been talk all season in regard to illegal wings, mainly on the Ferrari 248 and after all went quiet in Australia, the FIA seemingly quite content with the changes several teams, including McLaren, BMW and Ferrari made to their wings, it appears that the recent San Marino Grand Prix has raised further doubts regarding the legal position of Ferrari’s wings.
Part of the reason suspicions were raised once again was the speeds recorded by Michael Schumacher on the Imola circuit, causing Honda to send an informal complaint to the sports governing body about the cars flexing rear wing with Honda team boss Nick Fry confirming in Autosport that they were concerned because at certain times Michael was six kilometres slower than Fernando Alonso, while at other times he was 6 kilometres faster.
With video evidence at their disposal that the Ferrari’s rear wing is still flexing when the car reaches a particular speed, Fry is hoping that the FIA acts to ensure all teams are on the same level playing field.
Hopefully this matter will be sorted before too much longer so that fans can focus on the on track racing instead of the back yard politics. |
