The upcoming Australian Grand Prix will see six very lucky Formula One fans win the opportunity of a lifetime simply by purchasing a special Mark Webber pin!
The GPDA, the Grand Prix Drivers Association, have announced the launch of the new competition that will see the six lucky winners take a guided tour of the Albert Park F1 paddock on Sunday and having their photos taken with several F1 drivers, including Michael Schumacher, Mark Webber, David Coulthard and Jarno Trulli.
One of the aims behind the competition is to improve the interaction between fans and drivers
"The competition in Melbourne is one way for us to give something back to the fans and I hope they will get behind it," Mark Webber said.
All you need to do to take part is buy a small pin featuring Mark Webber’s helmet, the proceeds of each pin going to the official charity of the Australian Grand Prix, Brainwave Australia, assisting young people with cancer. The pins are available at various points around the circuit, as well as in Federation Square in the centre of Melbourne, and the winners will be drawn on Saturday evening.
"I applaud the drivers for giving fans of our sport the chance of a lifetime and, as the organisers of the Foster’s Australian Grand Prix, we are thrilled that Melbourne will be the launch-pad of a new era of taking F1 to its most devoted supporters," Mr Ron Walker, Australian Grand Prix Corporation chairman said. "I’m pleased to say there are some other exciting developments to come on that front in the near future, too."
Similar competitions will be run at various other venues throughout the season.
