Hamilton confident, despite Coulthard’s concerns

David Coulthard revealed over the weekend that he is concerned about Lewis Hamilton’s motor racing future, the Scottish racer convinced that his former McLaren team were bringing him into the pinnacle of Motorsports too soon and as a result, he is in danger of being compared unfavourably to the man he will partner at Woking next year, double world champion, Fernando Alonso.

However, while twenty one year old Lewis admitted that he values Coulthard’s opinion, he is confident that he has taken all the necessary steps that lead to Formula One and instead of being knocked down by Alonso, he is hoping to learn from him over the course of the year.

"I value David's opinion. He is extremely experienced and I have always looked up to him,” he admitted. "In some ways he could be right, but at the end of the day I've done all I need to do coming up to F1. I have got plenty of time to do the testing pre-season and so we will have to wait and see.”

“The team know I am young and it will take some time for me to get up to speed and learn. But I am young, fresh and extremely determined to do well in this sport. I want to win. I share the same qualities in some respects as Alonso, and I hope I can learn much from him. We will be both pushing hard to achieve great success for ourselves and the team."
