Even though Mercedes have now purchased the former Brawn Grand Prix team and will be rivals to Mclaren on track int eh 2010 Formula one championship season, the two teams doing a sort of role reversal with Mercedes Grand prix being their number one team and McLaren the customer outfit, Lewis Hamilton has no concerns about the level of the Woking based squad’s performances as a result.
One could be excused for thinking that because they will now be the customer team, McLaren’s engines won’t be as strong as they have been, even though last year showed that Mercedes is very fair with that side of things as Brawn was powered by the exact same engine. Hamilton knows that at the moment Mercedes has the best powerplant on the grid and despite wanting to e the only ones with it, he is confident that things will remain the same...
“It doesn’t concern us too much, because until 2015 we are still getting the engines from Mercedes,” he was quoted as saying by the Mirror. “The relationship will remain very good, even if I would prefer that nobody else gets the engine except us. My personal relationship with Mercedes has become closer over the years, and I wish them all the best. It’s great news for Formula 1 that they are continuing while other manufacturers are getting out. The Mercedes is definitely the best engine in Formula 1.” |
