All the young drivers are coming out of the woodwork for the first of December testing session at the Jerez circuit in Southern Spain, including none other than New Zealand born racer Brendon Hartley, who is currently at the Italian headquarters of the Scuderia Toro Rosso team undergoing a seat fitting for the young driver test session.
Hartley, who was a test driver for Red Bull racing before they installed young Jaime Alguersuari in the second seat at Toro Rosso half way through the 2009 season while Hartley concentrated on the racing program he already had in place.
But now, he will get his chance to show F1 bosses just what he is made of and while he has promised that he won’t allow all the other young drivers to distract him, the twenty year old racer can’t wait to get going!
"There's nothing you can say about times as all the teams are developing their cars for next year because of regulation changes,” he told NZPA. "I don't think it's a competitive test for the drivers but I think in the team, we'll show whether we are doing a good job or not. It's another big opportunity for myself - Toro Rosso is the young drivers team and it's important to have a good test if I want to be there in the future. But at same time, it's going to be great fun driving a F1 car again." |
