Haug refuses to end speculation

With all the Michael Schumacher return to Formula One with Mercedes in 2010 rumours doing the rounds on the internet in the past few days, it was thought that Mercedes Motorsport Director, Norbert Haug would put an end to the situation once and for all and clarify Ross Brawn’s comments that hiring the seven time world champion was just a media dream, however, he refused to diffuse the situation.

Speaking at a media gathering after the announcement of Nico Rosberg yesterday, Haug was asked to categorically deny the rumours once and for all and instead he simply stated "When will you ever say categorically anything in F1?’ adding that we ‘have to live with these speculations’ and that he fully understands that these speculations are ongoing as long as they don't announce who is driving the other car."

Despite his ties to Mercedes from his early racing days and his comments that he would love to drive one of their cars, the fact that he is 41 in January and has a neck problem due to an injury sustained in a motorcycle accident earlier this year, has to make any return by the German tenuous at best.
