Have they found a solution?

With time quickly running out to sort out the mess of the upcoming 2010 season, the deadline for entries coming in just 48 hours, it appears as if there may be a solution in sight. After days of intense negotiations, as well as suspending Williams from their ranks for breaking the unity they were trying to present to the FIA, FOTA may have the answer, courtesy of Mercedes boss Norbert Haug.

According to reports in the Times, Haug has come up with a proposal that could keep everyone happy, FIA and teams alike, and save the sport overall. The Mercedes boss is said to have proposed a cap of 100 million pounds for 2010 while the established teams, such as McLaren and Ferrari, help the new teams in terms of cheaper components, just as they would a customer team, as well as sharing their vast expertise.

Then, from 2011, the cap will revert to Mosley’s planned 40 million pounds with teams signing on until 2012.

Teams met in London yesterday to discuss the new proposal and there is said to be hope on the horizon.
