Heidfeld’s day cut short

Under cool but dry conditions at the Catalunya circuit in Spain on Tuesday, BMW SauberF1 driver Nick Heidfeld continued his scheduled testing program behind the wheel of the Sauber C24B powered by the BMW P86 V8 engine. Nick completed a total of 120 test kilometres over the course of the day, or 26 laps, to set a best time of 1:21.036.

The day’s work concentrated on the continuation of testing with Sauber C24B and BMW P86 V8 engine and in the morning session, the engineers focused on data acquisition runs particularly for the engine. Unfortunately things didn’t run as smoothly as hoped and work was stopped early in the afternoon due to a leak in the fuel rail.

Continuation of engine and systems testing will take place on Wednesday.
