BMW SauberF1 driver Nick Heidfeld is not expecting miracles in his first season with the newly purchased team, especially as the coming season will bring a lot of uncertainties with it, mainly the new V8 engine rules. BMW may have been in the series for many years, but the playing field has changed somewhat and Nick is well aware of that fact.
However, while he is aiming for a top six placing in the 2006 driver’s championship, he is more than willing to stay with the team and develop the car so that in a few years time they will be right up there challenging for victory….
"There will be a big difference in the engines, both in terms of reliability and power, and for sure McLaren and Renault will bring good and quick cars," he told Autosport. "I hope to finish among the top six next year, because I finished eighth this year, but the most important thing is not to be successful next season. But in three years I hope we can win races by then. I hope by 2008 that we can win and of course it is happens before then it will be nice - but I now it takes time to integrate new teams." |
