Nick Heidfeld has won the battle of the test drivers when he was announced as the second driver for the BMW WilliamsF1 team for the 2005 championship season at Valencia this morning, the German racer now set to race alongside Australian driver Mark Webber for the nineteen race season.
Meanwhile, Antonio Pizzonia will have the role of test and reserve driver, if he chooses to remain with the team after being passed over for the full time role.
"We have decided, at the last minute,” Sir Frank said, “that Nick Heidfeld would be the team's regular driver.”
