According to reports in this week’s Autosport magazine, engine manufacturer, Honda, is on the verge of offering their partner team, British American Racing, a new contract, reportedly for as long as the next five years!
Recent speculation in some areas of the media claimed that the Japanese engine giants were thinking of dropping out of the series, however it is widely known that the competition is fierce between Honda and Toyota, especially back in Japan and Honda would never dream of dropping the ball at this stage.
Negotiations are already underway to extend the current deal that runs out at the end of the 2004 season with work already underway on next year’s engine.
“I was happy to join BAR and I want to win the championship with the team,” Shuhei Nakamoto, Honda's engineering director told Autosport. “We've already started work on the 2005 engine from a technical point of view. Geoff is coming to Japan to discuss this year and next year's engine.”
