Another month has almost passed and there is still no news on a buy out of the Honda Racing Formula One team. Although there have been several names dropped as potential purchasers, it appears as of the situation has stalled with only eight weeks until the opening round of the season gets underway in Melbourne Australia.
Although the team’s enrolment in the FIA championship is still valid, time to get things organized for the first round of the season is running out, quite quickly, in the next two weeks in fact as it will take approximately six weeks to adapt the new car to a new engine, rather than the Honda powerplant it was built around.
After announcing their withdrawal, but still being listed as part of the 2009 championship season, it is not quite clear what will happen if the team is not sold when the Australian Grand Prix rolls around and they fail to make an appearance on the grid.
Also, one can’t forget Jenson Button who is still in limbo over his position this year while Toro Rosso hold off on announcing their second driver in case the Briton remains available come March.
