I don't think its going to be our strongest circuit

WilliamsF1 rookie Nico Rosberg was excited about returning to the race track in Turkey after a three week break from the pinnacle of Motorsports, however the young German’s race, while starting off promising, was over after just twenty-two laps due to the fact that his FW28 was loosing water pressure. Nico started fourteenth on the grid but was up into sixth place on the opening lap, and his car was fully fuelled and on good tyres so a strong points finish was definitely on the cards.

“I had a sensational start, went past three people right off the line and, while a couple of cars got it wrong, I dived down the inside on turn one and pulled up behind Mark. Coming out of the first corner we were fourth and sixth with lots of fuel and good tyres so were in a strong position,” he said in his column for Castrol. “Had we not had the water pressure failure, I think I would have got some points. My strategy was working well, and I'd put a lot of time between myself and the guys behind me so I think I could have finished anywhere from 6th to 8th.”

Nico was thoroughly enjoying the Istanbul track, even turn eight that seemed to cause so many problems for several of his colleagues.

“It’s a triple apex, 160mph left-hander that puts you under 4g of force for about four seconds. In terms of the stress on your neck, it’s very difficult and everyone was leaning their head out of the side of the cockpit by the end of the race,” he said.

Now it is back to work for Nico who joined in the team’s testing session at Monza yesterday. However, he isn’t too confident on just how they may fare in next weekend’s race….

“For me its testing in Monza this week ahead of the Italian Grand Prix, I don't think its going to be our strongest circuit, but we'll be putting in a lot of hard work over the next few days to squeeze everything we can out of the car.”
