For the first time in his Formula one career, Lewis Hamilton failed to finish on the rostrum, or even in the points, the McLaren rookie crossing the finish line in Sunday afternoon’s European Grand Prix in ninth place, a mere one and half seconds behind the eighth placed Renault of Heikki Kovalainen, however, instead of being downtrodden about the situation, the young Brit is looking at the pitfalls that hounded him for the entire weekend as a learning experience….
"I came here completely sick, had one of the biggest crashes I ever had, then got a puncture, went into the gravel, it started to rain - it was really a great weekend in terms of learning," Hamilton said in the Guardian. "I really feel I've made a big step in terms of experience. I learned 10 times as much in the race but overall I enjoyed it."
Lewis admitted after the race that the heavy shunt that saw him transported off track in an ambulance left him feeling very bad chest pain, resulting in a huge bruise, but overall he was extremely lucky to escape serious injury. Despite his lack of points in this round, Lewis still leads the championship but his twelve point advantage over teammate Fernando Alonso has dwindled to just two points, but, there is still a ,long way to go, seven rounds to be precise…. |
