I want to challenge myself says Button

New McLaren driver Jenson Button has revealed that he is looking forward to the challenge of stepping into the unknown with the Woking based squad after making the official break from Brawn Grand Prix earlier this week. The young Brit knows it will be tough fighting against 2008 champion, Lewis Hamilton, in the same machinery but that’s what excites him the most....

"I've been very comfortable within that team (Brawn) and it is taking me outside of my comfort zone," he told Reuters. "But that's what excites me and that is a real challenge for me. That is a challenge I am definitely up for. It's going to be a challenge going to a team where Lewis has been for three years and where he's won the world championship. But that's why I am doing it. I want to challenge myself, I want to challenge Lewis and that is so exciting for me. That's the reason why I am going, I'm not going because it's going to be easy, I'm going because it’s going to be tough."

While many believed that Jenson was motivated by money when he made the switch, it has recently come to light that he actually accepted a lot smaller figure from, the Woking based squad than the deal that was on the table from Mercedes, indicating that he believes the best way of defending his crown in the upcoming 2010 championship season is alongside Hamilton. However, there are many F1 insiders who would beg to differ, including Jackie Stewart....

"I think it's a mistake. It's like walking into the lion's den, because Lewis has had three years with McLaren now. He's already disposed of one driver that came in there in Alonso. He couldn't cut it against Lewis Hamilton."

2010 should be very interesting indeed.....
