New Toyota driver Ralf Schumacher spent his first official day’s work with the Cologne based squad at the Circuit de Catalunya on Wednesday, the white overall clad German driver finishing the day behind his former Williams teammate, Juan Pablo Montoya, in second place.
Ralf completed a total of 67 laps around the Spanish track to finish with a best time of 1:14.618, four tenths of Montoya’s pace in the McLaren. Schumacher was happy with the way day one progressed and declared the day a success, the TF104 exceeding all of his expectations.
"The package is better than I expected," he told DPA. "The engine is very, very good and the car has a good balance."
