It was pretty hectic!

Renault racer Giancarlo Fisichella had fully expected to take advantage of changing conditions during Sunday afternoon’s European grand prix, however the Italian racer failed to finish in the top eight after several events that occurred along the way hampered his progress. Speaking to the team’s official website after the race, Giancarlo explained that he was disappointed with the outcome by there is no point dwelling on it and they must now look ahead to the next round.

Giancarlo, how do you feel?
I’m disappointed like the whole team. When a race is turned on its head by the rain there’s always the possibility of getting an advantage from the situation. We didn’t manage to do that. It’s a shame. The weekend was difficult for Renault from Friday morning to this evening.

How did your race go?
It was pretty hectic! I lost a few places on the first lap as I was on dry rubber when the storm started. Then when the track was dry enough to change tyres, I had to wait my turn behind Heikki. And finally, the car had a very heavy fuel load. It wasn’t that it was difficult to drive; it was just too slow because of that.

What are your hopes for Budapest?
I think we’ll have analysed the information collected here at the Nürburgring and that we’ll have learned from it. Next week’s test will also be useful. The aim will be to be back on the pace from the start of practice in Budapest
