Jerez: de al Rosa on top as Kanaan makes his debut

McLaren test driver Pedro de la Rosa finished the teams second day of testing here at the Jerez circuit in Southern Spain at the top of the timesheets, the Spaniard almost seven tenths of a second faster than his closest rival, fellow tester Alexander Wurz, and his time almost beating Michael Schumacher’s unofficial lap record.

Renault joined the action today with Franck Montagny third fastest ahead of Red Bull’s Christian Klien while RDD driver Lucas di Grassi made his debut, the Brazilian racer finishing ninth and last after a total of 50 laps.

British American Racing also joined the session with test driver Anthony Davidson behind the wheel of next year’s car and finishing fifth overall while former IRL champion Tony Kanaan climbed about the 007 for his first taste of F1 power, finishing seventh fastest overall, a second ahead of the V8 powered Toyota piloted by Ricardo Zonta.
