Jerez: Williams run solo on day one
The second week of testing ahead of the 2005 championship kicked off at the Jerez circuit today where the BMW WIlliamsF1 team ran solo through varying weather conditions that even included a brief shower in the middle of the day. Regular driver Mark Webber was joined by the team’s third driver Antonio Pizzonia for day one with the Aussie driver claming top honours for the day by a fraction of a second. Tomorrow BAR, Sauber, Toyota, Red Bull, Ferrari, Jordan, Renault and McLaren will join the action, making it like a mini Grand Prix, minus Minardi. Times from day one: 1: Mark Webber – Williams – 1:19.016 – 84 laps 2: Antonio Pizzonia – Williams – 1:19.037 – 70 laps
