According to reports in Autosport, Jordan Grand Prix could be Toyota powered in 2005 if everything goes to plan in regard to the new engine rules and stability is enforced, freeing up important development time to enable them to supply a second team in the sport.
“If the capability is there then we can do it,” Toyota’s F1 president John Howett said in the British magazine. “But with the engine regulations in such a state of flux at the moment we cannot say anything for definite just yet.”
Jordan are currently under contract to Ford for the 2005 season but there is said to be an out clause that could see the switch of suppliers come to fruition. IT is also thought the Aussie test driver Ryan Briscoe could be given a race seat as part of the deal, making the cost of the deal that little bit more manageable for the Silverstone based squad.
