Kolles named as Team Principal and Managing Director at Campos F1

José Ramón Carabante, president of Campos F1, has appointed Dr. Colin Kolles as Team Principal and Managing Director of Campos F1, the Spanish Formula One team which will make its debut at the start of the 2010 season.

"I could not resist this tremendous challenge and am very excited to join forces in this new team. Over the next ten days we will review the entire operation, find the extra funding to ensure the team will make the first race in Bahrain, announce the line-up for 2010 in due time and make the operation viable under Jose Ramon Carabante's new ownership," Kolles said.

Dr Colin Kolles was the Managing Director and Team Principal of the Force India F1 Team. He is from Ingolstadt, Germany, and a German national. He entered racing by running Kolles Racing and TME Racing, two teams in the Formula Three Euroseries. He was appointed as Managing Director and Team Principal of the F1 team (then known as Jordan) by its new owner, Alex Shnaider, in 2004.

Kolles was Managing Director and Team Principal of team Midland F1 before the 2006 season began. Following the  team's takeover by Spyker and then Force India,he remained as managing director and Team Principal until 2009.

Kolles formed his own LMP1 team to compete in the 2009 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 2009 Le Mans Series season, where he fielded a pair of ex-works Audi R10s TDI running Michael Krumm and Charles Zwolsman, ex-single seater drivers plus Andrew Meyrick and Christian Bakkerud,  and ex-Formula One drivers Christijan Albers, Narain Karthikeyan and Swiss driver Giorgio Mondini.

Andre Lotterer also  participated in the 2009 Le Mans 24 Hours. Kolles also ran a team in the 2009 DTM, with Christian Bakkerud, Johannes Seidlitz and Tomas Kostka on Audi A4s DTM.
